Mark Twain once said: “the two important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.
From time to time you may find yourself greeted with an unexpected feeling or desire to embark on something that will positively change the life of people around you. This feeling can keep you restless for days. That is your purpose knocking at your door. You have two options: either to act on that feeling and develop it or do nothing and leave it dormant.
Purpose is the “reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists”. If I may ask you, why do you exist? According to Dostoyevsky, “The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive but in finding something to live for”.
7 simple steps that will help you lunch yourself into living a purpose-driven life.
Self-Awareness: This means being in touch with yourself, knowing who you really are, your character, your feelings, motives and desires. We can arrive at self-awareness through careful observation of ourselves and constant meditation.
Stepping out of your comfort Zone: This requires that you “let go the life you are familiar with and take the risk to live the life you dream about” (T. Arigo). Take a step towards exploring what you are passionate about. “You will never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone” (Roy Bennett).
Studying: Readers are leaders. Proverbs 25:2 tells us: “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, it is the glory of the kings to search out the matter”. In Hosea 4:6 we read: “My people perish for lack of knowledge”. Read books to clarify your passion and find mentors who will help you understand better what you are figuring out as your purpose.
Being Specific: Do not spend your entire life pursuing too many things endlessly in the name of finding your purpose. After a moment of exploration, decide what exactly you think and strongly feel is your purpose. Being specific requires identifying a problem you really want to solve.
Meeting new People: Create your network of friends with whom you can share your ideas with, let them give you feedback that will confirm and validate what you have found out as your purpose.
Developing yourself and your content: How do you want to solve the problem you have identified? Develop yourself strictly to accomplish your purpose and create content that will help you fulfill your purpose.
Making impact: With your content, make impact on people you have found out are suffering from the problem you identified. Inspire and transformed them.
