If you do not have a Vision, you are dying…

Learn to live with vision

This short article aims at bringing to your awareness the power of visioning. Where there is no vision, my people perish (Proverbs 29:18). In other words, without vision, you are dying.

It is interesting to note that vision is a spiritual thing made concrete in our lives by the way we live. Vision is to be able to see farther than your eyes can see. With vision you will be able to see not just what is, but also what can be. If you are a visionary, where people see impossibility you see possibility. That is the power of vision.

If you ask a boy of 15 years: what is vision? He would tell you, vision is what I want to be in the future. Ask a 45 year old man the same question, what is vision? He would tell you, vision is what I want to be in the future.  A 95 year old man in the hospital will also tell you vision is what I want to be in the future if you ask him the same question.

These definitions of vision by a 15 year old boy, a 45 year old man and a 95 year old man do not affect their beings. In other words they see their visions outside of themselves. Such mindset would not facilitate the actualization of one’s vision.

What is Vision?
It is against this background that vision defined as what you are by reason of what you are seeing (Omeogu). In other words, your vision has to affect your being in the now. Your vision should condition how you live. Your vision dictates the way you live.

Until your Vision defines the way you live. It will be difficult to make your vision manifest.
Jesse Lyn Stoner defines vision as “knowing who you are, where you’re going and what will guide your journey.”

Who you are – is your purpose (your passion, that thing that you love doing, that thing that gives you joy and you do it such that others will benefit from it).

Where you’re going –is your picture of the future.

What will guide your journey – are your values.

Create your vision and stop complaining

People who go about complaining about life, gossiping and criticizing do so because they do not have vision. Those who have vision are focused!

People without Vision help others actualize their vision while they leave their own vision dormant. They forget that the most powerful force in life is the force of vision.

When you have no vision, you will simply relive the past with its disappointments and failures. This can be very frustrating!

Importance of having a vision

  1. Vision helps one be clear about what he/she wants. When the vision is clear, the results will appear

  2.  Vision helps one pursues one thing at a time

  3. Vision helps one be at peace with himself/herself and with others

  4. Vision attracts the kind of friends and people one needs in his/her life

  5. Vision helps one set achievable goals and pursue them in order to manifest them

Exercise (Write your vision down)
For any vision to become part of you, it must be written down. Get a jotter where you can write down your vision

Habakkuk 2:2: Then the LORD answered me: “Write down this vision and clearly inscribe it on tablets, so that a herald may run with it. For the vision awaits an appointed time; it testifies of the end and does not lie. Though it lingers, wait for it, since it will surely come and not delay.
