“We all have issues, the difference lies in the way we handle these issues. The difference between those who stay with their problems and those who are seemingly enjoying life is the attitude these individuals bring to bear on their problems”.
The most common mistake people make in life is to think that they are the only ones who have problems, or that their problems are greater than other people’s problems, or that life is unfair to them or that their fate and destiny greeted them with unfairness. This I think is the beginning and the height of mental slavery. We all have issues, the difference lies in the way we handle these issues. The difference between those who stay with their problems and those who are seemingly enjoying life is the attitude these individuals bring to bear on their problems.
“To be human means you can mold situations you are living in the way you want them. But today most people in the world are molded by the situations in which they exist. This is simply because they live in reaction to situations they are placed in. The inevitable question is, “Why was I placed in such a situation? Isn’t it my destiny?” Whatever we do not want to take responsibility for, whatever we cannot make sense of logically, we label “destiny.” It is a consoling word, but disempowering… Destiny has become a popular scapegoat, a way to deal with failure, a fatalistic ruse to reconcile ourselves to all kinds of uncomfortable situations” (Sadhguru).
Every human person has got to deal with these five realities of life:
Uncertainty: life can become so uncertain that one may not know where to begin from and thus get stocked. This constitutes a problem. The uncertainty of life has kept many in dilemma. If you are not clear about what you want, there is always difficulty in moving on.
Ignorance: Ignorance keeps us in the dark and lucks us up in the prison of life. We take decisions base on the information available to us. “My people perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). If we have right information available to us, we make right decisions. If we have wrong information available to us we make wrong decisions. Remember the decisions we make can make or mar us.
Pride/Ego: In the end, life is about relationship. In relationship, we are taken deep into the mystery of life and we begin to appreciate the interconnectivity of everything in the universe. Our pride and ego often limit us from fully allowing ourselves to be involved with others. Beneath this attitude, lies a problem that posits a problem to us in real life.
Success: Everybody wants to be success, but what is success? Many link success to physical things: money, houses, wealth, friends, etc. This is wrong. True Success is knowing who you are, knowing your purpose and your ability to fulfill your purpose. Jesus told his disciples: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matt 6:33). “Who you are is not the sum total of accumulations you have made. Everything that you currently know as “myself” is just an accumulation. Your body is just an accumulation of food. Your mind is just an accumulation of impressions gathered through the five senses. What you accumulate can be yours, but it can never be you” (Sadhguru).
Time: Everybody is running to catch up with time. Sometimes we lose sight of our own timeline and use other people’s timeline to evaluation and judge ourselves and our achievements. This mentality breaks us down and forces us to think that something is wrong with us.
Our ability to properly deal with these five realities of life, give us the proper disposition to deal with our issues.
Be Conscious of these:
- Believe in yourself: Always tell yourself that you are good enough.
- Be confident: Do it anyhow. Even when you making mistakes, make them with courage. As it is said, self-confidence is everything.
- Take Action: The remedy for failure is action. When you take purposeful actions, you will never be stranded.
- Be patient: “Quick fortunes are often won and lost over night. Learn the virtue of patience as it teaches you to achieve greatness which lasts for generations. Learning to be patient is often all it takes to let the world deliver on its promises to you” (Synctuition)
- With God all things are possible: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
